New Plugin Offers Fully Synthesized Drums Without Samples‍

Baby Audio released Tekno, a drum synthesizer plugin that uses no samples. All 18 drum engines generate sounds in real time using a combination of analog circuit modeling and digital synthesis techniques. The plugin is intended as an alternative to both sample-based drum tools and emulations of classic hardware.

Flexible Synthesis with Component-Level Editing
Tekno’s sound engines produce unique results with each trigger, thanks to non-linear behaviors modeled on analog circuitry. A “Humanize” function introduces variation between hits, and users can fine-tune parameters down to individual circuit components. A preset randomizer enables quick exploration of new sounds.

Artist Presets and Included Kits
The plugin ships with 73 drum kit presets from a range of electronic music producers, including Richard Devine, Mr. Bill, Virtual Riot, and Yoad Nevo. These kits cover diverse electronic styles and can be used as-is or customized further.

Integrated Effects and Platform Support
Tekno includes a suite of built-in effects created in collaboration with DSP developer Jatin Chowdhury. The plugin runs on macOS and Windows, supports Apple Silicon natively, and works with all major DAWs.
