As every year, a few keen brands have already started discounting their DAWs and VST plugins from the end of October, with some stretching their deals into January. Now whilst you can buy audio software and hardware in a sale at any time of year, we have so far not picked up any that are called Black Friday.
3. The Predictions: The Black Friday 2026 deals we expect in 2026
We analysed the best plugin and DAW deals offered by the most popular brands from Black Friday 2019 to 2025. That information helped us predict what brands are likely to offer Black Friday deals, at what discount, at for how long. Unfortunately, we cannot gaze into the future. However, we are in contact with many companies who share upcoming promotions with us.
4. The Free: Free Black Friday plugins
Many brands offer high quality plugins for free all year round. During Black Friday, we see others release plugins for free for a limited time. This year, we expect the following brands to offer free Black Friday plugins:
Free Waves plugin: a new plugin is predicted for Black Friday 2026, after a new freebie on Black Friday in each of the last four years
DOWNLOADPrediction for Black Friday 2026: a new free Waves plugin on 27 November
Waves has released a brand-new plugin for free on Black Friday every year since at least 2022, for one day and a limited number of sign-ups. Sign-ups opened in early November in 2024 and 2025. We expect the same on Friday 27 November 2026 and will add it here once Waves announces it.
Black Friday 2025: Magma StressBox (no longer free)
A new plugin in the Magma analog series, free on 28 November 2025 for a limited number of sign-ups. It now costs $29.99.
Black Friday 2024: IDX Intelligent Dynamics (no longer free)
A frequency-dependent compressor that tames excess energy in a mix, free to 10,000 sign-ups on 29 November 2024. It now costs $34.99.
Black Friday 2023: Silk Vocal (no longer free)
A smart EQ and dynamics processor for vocals, free on 24 November 2023 only. It now costs $34.99.
Black Friday 2022: Lil Tube (free today)
A one-knob tube saturator and the first Magma plugin, free on 25 November 2022. It is now part of the Waves Free Plugin Pack*, so you can still get it for free.
Free Soundtoys plugin: a giveaway is predicted for 2026, after free plugins in each of the last four years
DOWNLOADPrediction for Black Friday 2026: a free Soundtoys plugin
Soundtoys has given away at least one plugin around Black Friday every year since 2022. In 2025 the giveaway moved to December and grew to six plugins. We expect another giveaway in November or December 2026 and will add it here as soon as Soundtoys announces it.
December 2025: 12 Days of Soundtoys, six free plugins (8 to 19 December)
Each plugin was free for two days, starting with Little PrimalTap, a small version of PrimalTap inspired by the Lexicon Prime Time delay.
November 2024: Soundtoys PhaseMistress free until 15 November
PhaseMistress is more than a simple phaser effect. Its saturation, modulation and resonance controls can transform a track, and the factory presets help you find a sound quickly.
Black Friday 2023: Soundtoys Little Plate free until 1 December
Little Plate is a light plate reverb with just decay, mix and low cut controls. It normally sells for $29.
Black Friday 2022: Soundtoys Little Radiator free with code HOLIDAYHEAT
Little Radiator is the one-knob version of Radiator, the Soundtoys tube preamp and saturation plugin.
Free Baby Audio plugin: a holiday freebie is possible in 2026, but there was no new one in 2025
DOWNLOADPrediction for Black Friday 2026: a free plugin is possible, not certain
Baby Audio released a free plugin around Black Friday or Christmas every year from 2021 to 2024, but it did not add a new one in 2025. We think a 2026 freebie is possible and will add it here if Baby Audio announces one. Four free plugins are still available on the Baby Audio freebies page with a free account.
2025: no new free plugin
Baby Audio did not release a new freebie in November or December 2025. The freebies page stayed the same.
December 2024: Warp x Andrew Huang (still free)
Released on 13 December 2024, Warp is the varispeed module from Transit 2. It speeds up or slows down audio, and its Stretch knob changes pitch independently of time.
December 2023: Beat Slammer (no longer free)
Released on 21 December 2023, Beat Slammer was a punchy compressor for smashing drums. It was removed from the freebies page in early 2025.
December 2022: Pitch Drift (still free)
Released on 19 December 2022, Pitch Drift adds random pitch fluctuations for a natural or lo-fi, out-of-tune feel. It uses the Drift algorithm from Super VHS.
Black Friday 2021: Magic Dice (still free)
Released on 17 November 2021 alongside the Black Friday sale, Magic Dice generates a new delay, reverb and modulation texture with every click. It is based on Spaced Out.
Earlier freebies, not tied to Black Friday
Magic Switch, a Juno-style chorus from April 2020, is still free. Baby Comeback, a delay made with Computer Music magazine in 2020, is no longer on the freebies page.
5. The Buying Guide: Helping to choose the best deals for you, without overspending
Before you spend more than you can afford, you might want to consider the following top tips:
- Organise your plugin folder: How many plugins do you have in your folder already? How many of them do you actually use? Can you organise your plugins into folders so you can find them better? Can you delete some that you haven't used for the last years? (But be careful if you have used them in any of your projects in the past).
- Set a budget: How much can you invest in plugins this year? How much have you spent already this year? Have you got the money saved and ready to go, or do you need to set aside some money now to avoid credit card debt?
- List your plugin priorities: Which plugins and upgrades will bring something new and different to your plugin folder? Are you sure you don't already have a plugin that does the job?
- Estimate what you can likely afford this Black Friday: Use our guide of predicted deals to work out what discount you might expect this year, using our detailed guide.
